As part of the SMU Film Festival, join us for a special screening of Arab Blues (Un divan à Tunis), a witty and heartfelt French-language Franco-Tunisian film, directed by Manele Labidi and presented with English subtitles.
Blending humor and emotion, the film offers a fresh and nuanced look at identity, belonging, and cultural dialogue.
Film summary:
After years abroad, Selma, a young psychoanalyst, returns to Tunis to open a private practice. Between skeptical patients, bureaucratic
obstacles, and lingering personal questions, she navigates a society caught between tradition and change. Arab Blues is a sharp,
funny, and deeply human portrait of contemporary Tunisia, carried by strong female characters and a vibrant sense of place.
This screening is a wonderful opportunity to discover contemporary Francophone cinema and engage with thought-provoking storytelling in a festival setting.
