About Us
Alliance Française was founded in Paris in 1883 and has grown into a global network of more than 800 independent chapters across 130 countries, serving over half a million students worldwide. In the United States alone, the network includes more than 100 chapters and over 24,000 students, all dedicated to promoting the French language and celebrating francophone cultures.
Alliance Française de Dallas (formerly l’Alliance Française du Nord du Texas) was founded in 1972 by influential members of the Dallas / Fort Worth community, including Stanley Marcus and S. T. Harris, who served as the first Honorary French Consul for North Texas from 1969 to 1989.
Since opening its French language school in 1985, the Dallas chapter has welcomed learners of all ages and levels, from beginner classes to advanced conversation. Today, it continues to bring together a vibrant community of francophones and francophiles, sharing the richness of French language, culture, and history in North Texas.
