Online conference hosted by Céline Glon from Zoom on Paris.

Talk will be predominantly in French with English translations or explanations as needed (Suggested level: B1 and up)

France will be celebrating in May the bicentenary of the death of Napoleon Bonaparte. For this special occasion, Celine will give a lecture that offers a vivid look at the life of a strategist, Consul, General and Emperor who conquered much of Europe.

The presentation will first take you to the Château of Malmaison where Napoleon experienced his happiest years along the side of his first wife, Josephine of Beauharnais.

Then as he became Emperor, we will discuss his rise and fall which occurred at the Château of Fontainebleau in 1814.

Who is Celine Glon?

Celine Glon was born in Lyon, and moved to Aix En Provence where she graduated in English. She then moved to Paris, fell in love with the city and studied Art History to become a certified tour guide.

What Celine can bring through her lectures is another way of learning History. She has worked for more than 20 years as a certified tour guide in Paris. Celine moved to the US in 2003, and has been sharing her time between California and Paris ever since. In 2005 Celine created "My French Conferences" which operated conferences for adults and students. Thanks to her background and experience, she can come up with presentations that are similar to a guided tour. Indeed, The content of a lecture does not only relate true events from France History but students will really enjoy learning facts from daily life details through the centuries such as food, fashion, dress code, architecture, hygiene, and bring history to life.
