  • This will allow the participants to discover the facets of Rosa Damascena at its various stages: natural, distilled & in a perfume.

*Every registered participant can invite one person to join them and share the kit!*

    About the class:

Rosa is one of the most ancient flowers. No other flower has such a wide range of sizes, colors, shapes and textures.

First, we will explore its complex genealogy to better understand how and why the flower has evolved. You will learn about “Wild Roses”, “Old Garden Roses”, “Modern Roses” and discover how both nature and men have contributed to such a wide variety of species. Anastasia will tell you about her favorite gardens to discover ancient and new species; these heavens of peace designed by talented gardeners might inspire you to create your own!

We will then focus on two specific roses cultivated for their unique fragrance: Rosa Damascena and Rosa Centifolia. You will learn about their history, their specificities and discover the famous Rose Valleys where they are cultivated in France, Bulgaria, Turkey and Morocco. Anastasia will explain how roses are processed to obtain rose essential oil and absolute and tell you about the Sulékó language of scents and the messages conveyed by the rose. As you discover our Vy Roza Eau de Parfum you will see how rose essence comes into play in a perfume to narrate a story and to reflect the state of mind of a person.

Let’s dive into the world of roses and find out what is a known fact and what is still left to uncover about the Queen of Flowers, which has been fascinating painters, poets, doctors, gardeners, chemists, botanists, perfumers and chefs for centuries...

    About Anastasia Sokolow:

The secret and mysterious world of perfume was unveiled to me at Yves Saint Laurent Beauté. This was the beginning of a great passion. I then followed high level trainings at the Higher International Institute of Perfume, Cosmetics, and Food Flavouring (ISIPCA) and studied the great classics of French Haute Parfumerie, preserved by the Osmothèque Conservatory of Perfumes; I immersed myself in this magical world of top-level expertise. Today, as a member of the French Society of Perfumers, I wish to share my passion and make the choice of a perfume, an experience which awakens the senses and is much more than an encounter: a thunderbolt, a feeling of rediscovering oneself.

I am of Russian descent and was enchanted by Russia throughout my childhood and adolescence. The wonderful aromas of the dishes cooked by my grandmothers lit up our parties; the stories they read transported me to the heart of this country, where omnipotent nature guides the heroes. Russian culture as a whole is marked by wonder.

These are the memories that inspire my perfumes today. Fragrances created in France (Grasse), inspired by Russia: emotive perfumes designed for the world.”

    About SULÉKÓ:

SULÉKÓ reflects the approach of a Russian perfumer who emigrated to France after the Revolution: Konstantin Weriguine. He worked alongside Ernest Beaux at Bourjois-Chanel. In his book, “Souvenirs et Parfums” (“Memories and Perfumes”), he describes beautifully the scents of Russia: the smell of the snow, the black earth (tchernoziome), the big Easter festivals…and defines each season as a combination of specific scents. SULÉKÓ was inspired by this approach and created four universes defined olfactive, but also emotionally: SULÉKÓ WINTER, SULÉKÓ SPRING, SULÉKÓ SUMMER and SULÉKÓ FALL. Each universe matches a specific state of mind, a personality or a phase of our life.
