Online conference hosted by Celine Glon from Zoom on Paris. Talk will be predominantly in French with English translations or explanations as needed (Suggested level: B1 and up).
This lecture brings you on a journey to Chartres and its world-famous cathedral. Along the way, stop at Chateau de Maintenon, known as the private residence of Madame de Maintenon, the French noble-woman who secretly married Louis XIV. Next, Celine will take you to Chartres Cathedral, the architectural marvel that has stood for a thousand years and remains a major pilgrimage site. You'll discover the Gothic beauty of its vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, rose windows, flying buttresses, and labyrinth. Celine will also share the history of the Veil of Mary, one of the cathedral's most venerated relics.
