A visual conversation between Paris and Dallas
A collaboration between Jasna Boudard & Jessica Honan in partnership with the Alliance Française de Dallas.
This event is part of the French Cultures Festival coordinated by the Cultural Service of the French Embassy in Houston, TX.
The project “21 in 2021” was sparked quite naturally by a photographic exchange between these two women documenting their covid reality in two different parts of the world - France and Texas.
This exchange between a Frenchy in the USA and an American in France made the cultural differences interesting and the similarities relatable.
To honor the new year with its new hopes, they shared an image a day for the first 21 days of January. They focused on aspects of their surroundings that could spark a visual conversation. Sometimes the image dialogue was simple, while other times the recipient was sent searching for a suitable response, creating a special connection between two long distance friends. During a time of social distancing and forbidden international flights, this project served as a unique bridge between continents.

The exhibition will be online and open to the public on the Alliance Française de Dallas Facebook page.

Who is Jasna Boudard?
Jasna Boudard is an artist living in Dallas, Texas.
Although her art manifests through a variety of mediums, she uses the camera as her main creative tool. Her work focuses on light, movement and connection. Of multicultural origins, Jasna is French and Bangladeshi and was raised in different parts of the world, including Morocco, Spain, Japan, and the USA. Through her extensive travels, she has photographed and exhibited all across the world. She is also an educator and the founder of the wedding photography business Travel Weddings.
Who is Jessica Honan?
Jessica Honan is an American living in Paris, France. She is a university lecturer teaching at international business, hospitality, and communication schools in the region. She is also a yoga instructor for children and adults, and a soccer coach to four teams. When not in the classroom, on a yoga mat, or at a sports field, Jessica enjoys organizing wellness workshops, writing poetry, and inspiring the next generation as she co-directs the “Youth Leadership Initiative” and “High Impact Communication” programs at HEC Paris.
